Rules of Productive Marketing
Marketing is the Key to your business' success.
A good 70%-80% of your time spent on building your business
should be pre-marketing planning, marketing, and post-marketing
follow-up including customer service (much of which is a form of
marketing).
Without marketing, you can have the most attractive, most organized
business with the most in-demand products, but you’ll get virtually no
sales.
No sales = no money = business failure!
If you are a home or small business owner and you don’t have a web
presence, you’re missing out on a significant marketing avenue! Even
the simplest of web pages can pull in orders which might have
otherwise gone to a competitor.
So for those who are new to marketing, particularly internet
marketing, and for the veteran marketers & IMers, I’ve developed
some basic fundamental rules for marketing and online marketing.
1. Make Contact Every 30-90 Days
Your customers, prospects and affiliates should hear from you every
30 days; but, sometimes that’s hard for a part-time marketer to do,
so certainly you should contact them AT LEAST every 90 days.
Beyond 90 days and many will tend to forget who you are!
A simple email, or discount certificate, or even a short piece of
pertinent information will do!
2. Remember to Track and Tweak
ALL of your advertising efforts should be tracked and analyzed.
Whether you’re using Pay-Per-Click, eZine, banner, sidebar, or offline
advertising (newspaper, magazine and radio), EVERYTHING should
produce success data and be examined at least once a week.
Rarely does an ad’s first effort pay off. The vast majority of them will
need to be tweaked for keywords, wording and word placement.
Tweaking’s good, so get creative! Track and analyze every single
thing you do to each ad. Keep and rerun the most productive ads.
3. Do Marketing Every Day
Your business makes a profit through your marketing efforts. Yes,
administering your web site is important. Yes, the lines of
communication to your supplier and your paperwork are important.
Yes, a hundred other non-marketing things are important. BUT
nothing gets sold unless you actively market. That’s why your
business marketing efforts should take 75-90% or your time - at the
very minimum, you should spend 50% of your time marketing your
business.
So make, schedule and keep your daily marketing time inviolate! It’s
the thing that’s going to make you money!
4. Don’t Reduce Your Budget During the Slow Times
Marketing is your business’ lifeline during hot times and slow. Do Not
reduce your marketing budget even during the slow times!
Decide how much you can afford on a monthly basis for your
marketing efforts and stick to it through thick and thin! Include all
forms of marketing; pay-per-click, eZine ads, banners on popular
sites, newspaper and magazine ads, and radio ads. Experiment with
all of them and choose the marketing formats which best suit your
own business.
Within those areas, rerun the ads which are highly productive!
When you do have those hot times, stick a little extra money away
into your marketing budget to be used for those rainy, slow periods.
That way you can help smooth out your yearly marketing expenses.
5. Don’t Overload Yourself
One of the biggest mistakes a home or small business owner can
make is to take on too many projects! In marketing, that can be a
recipe for disaster!
Remember Rule Number 2. You must have time to track and analyze
every marketing effort. You’ll also need time to create innovative new
products and services to sell. In addition, you’ll need time to do all of
those mundane home office tasks. So take on just the number of
activities that you can competently handle.
I’ve seen the breaking of this rule play out to the sad end many
times. As small business owners we tend to continue adding new
projects and tasks to our schedules without ever eliminating older
ones.
One of the best ways to maintain your balance is to do a monthly
review of all your discretionary activities (those that are not
absolutely necessary to run your business) and eliminate doing the
ones which produce the least results.
6. Don’t Neglect Your Prospecting Funnel Procedure
Most folks will first view your home business with neutrality, if not
downright suspicion. I’ve rarely seen a small business start right off
skyrocketing because of complete acceptance on the part of the
public. That’s okay. It’s a natural part of building a business.
From that first state, some will become prospects, then customers,
then repeaters and finally referrers. With the newly referred, the
process - the prospect funnel - starts all over again.
Whatever you do, make sure that your prospect funnel is lovingly
maintained and nurtured!
7. DO NOT QUIT!
Most marketing research indicates that a marketer must present their
offer 5-7 times to a prospective customer before that customer
makes a purchase.
So don’t quit a marketing activity before it gets a thorough chance to
perform! Repeat, repeat, repeat. If, after all your honest efforts, an
activity or project just isn’t panning out, THEN you can drop it and
move on to a new one.
This same rule applies to prospects also. 5-7 times before you move
on to the next possible customer unless they ask you not to contact
them again.
8. ALWAYS Thank Your Prospects and Customers
And do it often!
There are numerous ways to offer thanks; a gift or discount
certificate, a freebie at Starbucks, free shipping on their next
purchase, or even just a short email.
Keep your thanks short, but very sincere. Use kind words and focus
on their actions for which you’re giving thanks.

Success and what it entails
Success, just like any other things is definitely not an accident. It
happens for a reason and on purpose, whether people strive for it or
not. Success is a wonderful world and concept. People have always
been striving for it all through their lives. And many people have long
been pursuing success; others start their journey towards it and often
find it immediately. Success to some means domination and capture
of another.
The real meaning of Success actually comes in various forms and
definitions. It depends upon what a person is looking for in life and it
depends upon the person’s perspectives in life. In fact, perspectives
about success can be as many as the stars above. But if you really
want to know deeper about success, you have to narrow down your
understanding. You need to know that there is actually a lot of
difference between, Success, Accomplishment, as well as True
Success-
The Basics
Accomplishment is when you have been engaged in something that
you actually attempted, and have generated your target results. It’s
based on what you are expecting, and what kind of results was
generated. This is happening in the daily lives of people. They
accomplish a lot of things but never really achieve success from
those actions.
Success is different. For most people, success is when they have

Passion. A person’s heart and success have an absolute connection
that will definitely lead to a True Success, and this kind of success
can be viewed as a long term Success.
One essential thing that propels people to success regardless of
status, age, academic qualification, background, or tribe is ‘The
Blessing Of God’. The blessing of God is the ability, authorization,
and empowerment to succeed, be fruitful and productive as
opposed with a curse that empowers people to fail, irrespective of
the resources and labor invested.
Without the blessings of God, hard work and diligence may result
to a hard life. And when the labor of people lacks blessings from
God, it will remain unprogressive, unprofitable, and unproductive.
It is indeed the ‘blessing of Good’ that makes an essential
difference in the lives of the people

For a lot of people, success can be elusive. There are some people who

Buying good cameras should go without saying, but some people don’t realize how important it is. You’ll probably experiment with a variety of devices, and always be looking at newer, better solutions for your efforts. Remember when you make your camera choice: People will complain about bad video, but people never complain about a video looking too good.
3. High resolution will bring higher quality. If you can record your videos in high definition, do it. High definition resolution is 1280×720 pixels is what YouTube will host for you. It is quite affordable. You can record in this size without spending much
more than a few hundred dollars. The results will speak for themselves.
4. Purchase a good microphone. You don’t need to go all-out when it comes to basic audio equipment. You won’t need much more than a USB port to find a mic that is worth using. 3. High resolution will bring higher quality. If you can record your videos in high definition, do it. High definition resolution is 1280×720 pixels is what YouTube will host for you. It is quite affordable. You can record in this size without spending much
more than a few hundred dollars. The results will speak for themselves.
4. Purchase a good microphone. You don’t need to go all-out when it comes to basic audio equipment. You won’t need much more than a USB port to find a mic that is worth using. You want one that sounds clear without being “fuzzy,” and one that doesn’t make noises every time you move. You may come across times when getting good audio is impossible, but that should be the exception, not the rule.
5. Have good lighting. This is especially true if you are doing a product review or demonstration. People need to see what it is you are showing them. You probably won’t need stage lighting, but using sufficient light to show the details within your scene is crucial to producing a good video.
6. Create a good scene. Don’t just randomly hit the record button. Think before you begin. Know what you’re going to say, and take note of your surroundings. It’s hard to take someone seriously if behind them is a sink full of dirty dishes or junk scattered all over
their dresser or desk. It’s distracting to viewers. You may be making amateur content for the Web but it doesn’t mean you have to look unprofessional.
7. Remember you only have about 15 second to get someone’s attention. If you don’t have much of a personality on camera, you might as well not record. You need to let the real you shine through. If you’re not very energetic, maybe you should consider sticking to the written form of communication. Just because you can record video doesn’t mean you should. If a viewer clicks on your video and it doesn’t catch their attention in the first 15 second, they just click out.
8. Always practice. Watching other people isn’t going to make you better. Practice your video content, and try recording some samples and upload them as private videos. You can send the links to your friends and family, and ask them for feedback. It will probably take several takes to get it right. Watch every one of your takes, and select the one you like most.
9. Don’t make something more complex than it needs to be. If your effort is overwhelming you, it’s not going to be fun. If it’s not fun, then you’re not likely to stick with it for long. This rule also applies to your viewer. If what you’re presenting is overwhelming them, they won’t watch it.
10. Stay on topic when you record. People tend to ramble. This is particularly true when they’re nervous. It is also true if they’re interested in a topic. If you ramble, try to keep it relevant to the reason you’re recording your video. You may need to refer to notes, when you first start recording. If you do, that’s fine. Just stay on topic. No one wants to hear about your Great Aunt Sally’s hernia surgery in the middle of your “How to” presentation just because it pops into your head. If you’re not doing the presentation on “How to overcome surgical procedures,” it wouldn’t be relative.
11. Keep an energetic voice. You don’t want to put people to sleep with your videos. If you have no energy in your voice, you’re not going to keep people listening for long. Keep your video lively and energetic, and people are more apt to stick through to the end.
You probably remember a teacher or college professor that spoke in a monotone voice that caused you to nod off a few times. You couldn’t click out, because you had to be there. Online, however, they can click out, and they will.
12. Try using humor. Comedy has worked for generations. Why? Because funny is good, especially when it’s unexpected. Funny is, however, is relative, so don’t push it. Lightheartedness in videos breaks down barriers. A controlled amount of silliness can be fun, and entertaining. I’m not saying you should be a comedian, just add a bit of humor to make it stand out and keep your viewer attentive.
13. Give people something to look forward to. If you have a regular schedule for something to happen, like a live giveaway on Saturday, people will be in the live chat waiting anxiously for that giveaway. It’s something they can look forward to each week.
Giveaways might not be your thing, that’s OK. Whatever you do, however, you need to have a routine people can put on their calendar and make a habit out of.
14. Give your viewers a reason to send your video links to their friends. There are a lot of people who don’t use YouTube’s search. tool, but they do rely on the opinions of others. If someone comes across your video and finds it interesting, helpful, or funny, your chances of having them send it to someone they know increases. This is also true if you are creating useful content. These things help others want to “Favorite” your videos, embed them in their blogs or social profiles, or share your creations with their friends via instant messages or email. You can even say, “If you like this video and know someone who will enjoy it, be sure to send them the link.” It will make them think, “Oh, I bet Bob would like this,” and they’ll pass it on.
15. Don’t let them go without knowing where you are. Don’t rely on descriptions and tags for everything. Everything you want to convey must be within the video itself. Tell the viewer know who you are. Chances are, if they’re watching the video, they would rather watch than read. If you don’t tell them, they may never know.
16. Ask your audience feedback. You’re already presenting a call-to-action in every video. Ask your viewers for feedback. It may not always be positive, so be prepared for both positive and negative remarks. Take pride in the positive ones, and learn from the
negative ones. Use these comments to create your future videos with even more quality content.
17. Treat each one of your videos as though it were the only video of yours they will ever watch. Each video should stand alone.
Often, people want to do a series of videos. That’s great, however, someone may only catch your video on number three. It should be complete, from beginning to end. Those who watch numbers one and two will know what three is about, but this new viewer won’t.
Give a brief review of one and two before you go on to three. This way, that video will be complete, and they’ll know they want to watch one and two so they can understand the whole process and be eager for number 4. You’ll know every viewer will have heard things like your signature sign-on/off, but use them each time to make each video complete within itself.
18. Use annotations and tags. You can use the annotation feature to place call outs or hyperlinks to any other page on YouTube. They’ll display over your videos on YouTube and in all embeds. That’s all the more reason to use the “note” annotation, which allows for the insertion of YouTube URLs. Tags will help people be more likely to find your videos through searches. Tags are nothing more than keywords, linking people to videos which also contain the same tags.
